WELCOME TO WHISTLER GOLDEN RETRIEVERS

Although having dogs all my life i didn’t discover my love for golden retrievers until being introduced to one while visiting relatives in California in 1997,I instantly fell in love with the breed and longed to have one of my own.
Then in 2002 after our beloved Cavalier King Charles (Timmy) passed away, I knew then the time was right to start my search for our first golden retriever.
Luckily I was put in touch with a breeder in Westmeath who had one boy available.
In September 2002 we brought Riley home, little realising he would be the start of a whole new world for us.
After some encouragement from Rileys breeder, I started ringcraft classes and then in March 2003 I entered my first championship show with Riley and although we didn’t have the greatest start I was hooked.
Then two years later we decided it would be nice for Riley to have some company and as his breeder was doing a repeat mating we thought what would be better than a younger brother so in July 2004 Bailey came home to live with us.
It wasn’t until 2007 that I decided to get my own affix and I knew exactly what it had to be - “WHISTLER” named in memory of the first golden retriever that had touched my heart in California ten years earlier.
Whistler was such a loving and very special girl, she touched every heart she met. Photos of Whistler -
In the summer of 2007, I was ready for our third edition and in the September Darby arrived all the way from England. Darby is our first dog to have the ‘Whistler’ affix added to his name.
I love showing and training the dogs, but the pleasure they give cuddling up on the sofa, the 100% loyalty they give makes the Golden Retriever the dog for me.
